Value of Relative Individual Responsibility

About

Relative Individual Responsibility is a multidimensional concept, which comprises different dynamic factors of the personal, social, and cultural life of individuals. It is intended to be as substantiated as possible in an figure, to better understand the position of each individual in relation to a responsibility scale which leads to:

  • Being aware of the consequences of their own or other people's behavior.

  • Feel the responsibility of answering for their own actions, individually and socially.
  • Act in such a way as to develop actions and processes that lead to integral human development, including cognitive and emotional intelligence, over the years.
  • Take into consideration and weighting the influence, advantages and disadvantages associated with the new methods of human acting, since these imply duties and obligations never faced by individuals due to the exponential development of science and technology. These changes permanently shape the content and manner of individual and social responsibility.

The concept of the Value of Relative Individual Responsibility does not aim to encourage a new sense of responsibility in each person, but only to quantify the individual responsibility already existing in each one of us.

Responsibility is a relative concept because:

  • Individual responsibility changes according to the context, vis-à-vis the level of the social environment in which the individual is inserted.
  • Algebraically the Absolute Individual Responsibility is close to zero.
  • Relative Individual Responsibility is far from zero.

On the other hand, social and human practices are not the same in all individuals but vary according to the concrete reality of each person, the interconnections of family, and community relationships, ways of living and according to individual philosophy of life, spirituality, religion or political ideologies. Each person is a unique whole, but there are aspects that become common and give us the idea that we are all the same through human and social interaction. The value of Relative Individual Responsibility is quantified through a specific set of Variables (consult these Variables here).

Technical Description

April 2022

Relative Individual Responsibility Index is a scientific instrument built based on the concepts, methods, techniques and attitudinal and behavioural measurement scales that social and human sciences make available to us.

Besides the individual benefits of each person inquired, this instrument is intended for public and private, national and international organizations. This way we get answers about the population of interest, to the questions that are part of the defined variables. In each there are groups of dimensions, indicators, questions and scales with the goal to quantify the answers in a rigorous and objective way.

The responsibility of the use of this validated instrument will depend on the objectives and underlying interests of its users, drawing relevant conclusions from its results and consequent interventive actions according to the specific objective of each project.

Mission

To make the concept of RESPONSIBILITY as objective and quantifiable as possible for any individual in the world, in accordance with his/her personal, social, and cultural reality.

To contribute to an individual notion of RESPONSIBILITY, which can be reflected in his/ her ways of thinking, feeling and acting.

The value of Relative Individual Responsibility is intended to be stimulating, and to promote a culture of responsibility.
